What is the meaning behind Artemis?

In Greek mythology, Artemis is the daughter of Leto and Zeus, and the twin of Apollo. Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and wild animals, the moon, childbirth and fertility. She was often depicted with the crescent of the moon above her forehead and was sometimes identified with Selene (goddess of the moon). Known as the protector, she helped in protecting and seeing to the well-being of her loved ones, also their safety and reproduction. She was armed with a bow and arrows which were made by Hephaestus and the Cyclopes

Our History

When the company was founded back in 1998 we named her Artemis Natural Products after the Greek Goddess, the vision was to focus on natural and organic products such as baby food, cotton clothing, wooden toys and natural skincare for children and the like.

However, over the last number of years our company has grown and added fantastic new brands to our founding brand NUK, brands like, Bambino Mio – reusable cotton nappies, Korbell– hygienic nappy disposal system, JJ Cole Collection – organising your babies accessories in style, and our latest addition Lactaze – an enzyme supplement supporting lactose digestion. This has resulted in our name becoming a little 'misleading'.

Due to this, as well as having just completed a demolition and reconstruction of our offices which needed a new, more relevant name without losing our heritage, 2011 was a time of taking a long hard look at who we are and what we do and so Artemis Brands was born.

Our Logo

A pregnant woman's belly:

This represents fertility and relates to us as most of our products are related to baby. The pregnant woman is our target market

The bow of the bow and arrow:

The bow represents protection, precision and accuracy. Artemis carried her bow and arrow all the time to ensure those she loved were protected

The Earth:

We care about sustaining humanity on Earth. We represent products that care for and do not harm the planet. The focus of our operations are in Africa

Wheel and Paraglider:

On a more personal note the founder of Artemis Brands, William Wertheim Aymes, feels that a healthy body supports a healthy mind. He competes at a national level on both his paraglider and bicycle on the road and mountain bike. He sees the bike wheel and the paraglider in the Artemis arc. Some people even see the arc as the circle of life, and the delicate equilibrium we are all responsible to maintain. He sees the bike wheel and the paraglider in the Artemis arc.
